Sermon on the Mount overlooking the Sea of Galilee

A guest post written by Fran Esser first posted before the November 2010 elections, we can keep these thoughts in mind during upcoming elections.

New International Bible Version, II Timothy Ch 3 describes Godlessness in the Last Days as follows:   “There will be terrible times. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

Sound familiar? Do you wonder how the apostle had such insight about current events?  Perhaps it is because much of this stuff has been going on for centuries.

Let not your heart be troubled, isn’t this erroneous activity coming to the surface for a good cleaning?  God promises us this healing in II Chronicles 7: 14,  “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.“Continue Reading

Yet his great triumph enabled him to exchange the crown of thorns for the majestic crown of spiritual rejoicing. His immortal glory continues throughout the generations to affect the entire world in its timelessness.Continue Reading

As an Assistant Committee on Publication who has taken on the Internet, I have found that people are much more inclined to speak their mind than if they were speaking face-to-face, or even on the phone.  This can be negative in some instances, but in others we are given the chance to know what people are really thinking and the questions that are uppermost in their thought.

And, as is the responsibility and privilege of every Christian Scientist, we have the opportunity to help correct mistaken comments about our religion and to inform the public of the facts as we understand them.Continue Reading
