Q&A: Is the health care reform law constitutional? U.S. Supreme Court will decide
We’ve fielded several questions asking how the Supreme Court’s involvement in determining the constitutionality of the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will affect the work of the Federal Office. In a Q&A session, Manager Gary Jones responds to some of these queries. The first question is: “How likely is it that the Supreme Court will rule on the constitutionality of the health care reform law?”
What relevance does the MA health care law have for Christian Scientists?
The idea of a government mandate that individuals carry a minimum level of health insurance is not new; in fact, Massachusetts instituted such health care reform at the state level almost four years prior to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Like PPACA, the Massachusetts law requiring residents to purchase health insurance or pay a tax penalty provided a religious exemption. However, unlike PPACA, the Massachusetts religious conscience exemption is not limited to a few select faiths.
In aftermath of shooting, Gloria Giffords leans on Christian Science
Gloria Giffords, the mother of U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords, was recently featured in an article by the Arizona Daily Star. In the article, Gloria describes how Christian Science helped her in the aftermath of her daughter’s shooting. She says, “I try to keep a thought process where I don’t dwell on recrimination and anger.”

Loved the article about Giffords. What a wonderful story.
Thanks, Don, for that update. So heartening to hear about the exemptiom included in the Massachusetts health care law. The work being done on our behalf at the Federal level and the state is to be commended. Much gratitude to you all.
